Wayne Ellsworth Poquette February 6, 1938 - August 22, 2022 Wayne Ellsworth Poquette went to be with our Lord on Monday, August 22, 2022. Wayne was born at the Degoesbriand Hospital in Burlington, Vermont on February 6, 1938; the second child, first son of Ellsworth and Victoria (Trombley) Poquette. Wayne grew up in North Hero, Vermont. He attended the one house public grade school and worked the family's farm despite having severe problems with his feet as a result of being stricken with Polio. Leaving him having to wear a leg brace on his right foot and Jones bar on his left foot for the rest of his life. On September 16, 1961, he married Amelia Irene Baker after seeing her in Catechism and many social gatherings, such as dances. They prayed the Rosary faithfully when they dated and during their marriage. Wayne continued reciting it even after Amelia's death. They raised together one daughter, Teresa Marie. Wayne worked as a manual laborer all his life at a variety of positions; for general contractors including the Towns of South Hero and North Hero. He picked apples, dug graves and also helped in building Sand Bar Bridge by breaking the stones to lay the foundation. He worked at Mac's Tire Sales in St. Albans, and lastly retiring due to cancer after 20 years of working to Brault's Mobile Homes in Colchester, Vermont. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Wayne loved to tell of his life experiences and was always willing to lend a hand even for a stranger. Wayne is survived by his only daughter, Teresa Marie, and his only grandson, Joel Wright. He is also survived by his sisters and brother, Veronica (Cliff) Matott, Debbie St. Denis, and Joseph (Bev) Poquette along with brother and sisters in laws, cousins, a special niece Lynda (Gary) Neil, and other nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife Amelia on March 10, 2019, and his siblings Clairette (Poquette) Berard and Roger Poquette. There will be no calling hours. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at 10 a.m. in St. Rose of Lima Church, South Hero, Vermont, with a burial to follow in South Hero Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the South Hero Cemetery or for Masses to Our Lady of the Lake Parish - St. Rose of Lima, South Hero, Vermont. Arrangements are made by Minor Funeral Home in Milton, Vermont.
