Virginia Bowen-Berry, known for her unwavering dedication and infectious love for her family, has peacefully passed away in Morrisville on July 6, 2024. Born in Hardwick to the late Grace and Elmer Hill, Virginia grew up to become a beloved matriarch, embodying the true essence of hard work and compassion.
Throughout her career as a housekeeper in various places in Stowe, Virginia took immense pride in her work, leaving a lasting impact on everyone she encountered. Her culinary skills were unmatched, with her donuts and hamburg soup being a favorite among friends and family. Virginia's nurturing nature extended beyond the kitchen as she was hailed as the peacemaker of the family, always bringing harmony and warmth wherever she went.
In her leisure time, Virginia found joy in tending to her hummingbirds and flowers, finding solace in nature's beauty. She also enjoyed friendly games of cards and bingo, though she made it clear that losing was not an option in her book. Her competitive spirit was only outweighed by her generous heart, making her a true caregiver in every sense of the word.
Virginia leaves behind a legacy of love and strength that will be carried on by her surviving family members: her husband Fred Berry, her five children – Deborah Ingalls (Garland), Carol Rockwell (Ralph), Edward Bowen (Bonnie), Mildred Audet (Robert) and Ralph Bowen Jr. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her 1st husband Ralph Bowen, her daughter in law Linda Bowen, siblings Christie Masseau, Leticia Tallman, and Cliff Hill, a granddaughter Tabitha Bowen and a great grandson, Christopher Brigham.
A celebration of life will be at the VFW in Hyde Park from 11-3 pot luck dinner, on July 27th, 2024. Burial will follow in Plains Cemetery, Morrisville, VT. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Lamoille Home Health and Hospice, 54 Farr Ave, Morristown, VT 0566.
