Terrence Shaun O'Neill, Jr., born on November 10, 1966, in Burlington, Vermont, left this world on April 19, 2025, while surrounded by the beauty of Grand Isle. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, whose presence enriched the lives of all who knew him.
For 28 years, Terry dedicated himself to his career at Consolidated Communication, along with all its previous iterations, ultimately concluding his professional journey at Waitsfield Champlain Valley Telecom. His work ethic and dependable nature were admired by colleagues, who often remarked on his unwavering commitment and reliability.
He graduated from BFA St. Albans in 1985 and later attended VTC, laying the foundation for a life filled with accomplishment. Yet, it was not his career or education that defined him; it was the joy he brought to his family and friends through shared experiences and heartfelt connections.
Those who ventured into the great outdoors with him will forever remember the yearly trips to Lake Willoughby, where hiking, kayaking, and relishing the serene remoteness brought them closer together. He enjoyed duck hunting and was a firearms enthusiast. Terry was affectionately known as the "Roamer," always smiling, ready to lend a helping hand, and embrace the wonders of nature. He adored camping at Alburgh RV, a favorite highlight of his summers, where laughter and love filled the air.
Terry had a tough exterior, exhibiting a witty sarcasm and a quick one-liner for every occasion. However, beneath that shell was a heart of gold—a true marshmallow at his core. He was not just a great father to Mitchell O'Neill and Emily O'Neill, who will carry his values and warmth into their futures, but a cherished husband to his loving wife, Kate O'Neill. The bond they shared, full of support and creativity, was a testament to their enduring love.
He leaves behind his siblings, Roland, Mark, and Susan O'Neill-Parent, as well as many nieces and nephews who adored their 'Uncle Terry.' His grand fur babies, Loki, Hans, and Chief, will also miss his gentle spirit. He is also survived by his father and mother in law, Carl and Nancy Cobb.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Jean and Terrence O'Neill, Sr., whose legacy of love and strength undoubtedly shaped the man he became. His vibrant personality, sharp wit, and generous heart will be profoundly missed but fondly remembered by all he touched. His loving spirit will continue to inspire those who knew him, reminding us all to embrace adventure, lend a helping hand, and cherish every moment with family. Rest well, dear Terry, knowing you are loved beyond measure.
