Colchester

Stephen John McElroy of Colchester, Vermont was born in Salem, Massachusetts on November 13 1966 to David Edwards and Olivia Clarke McElroy and grew up in Cape Neddick, Maine where he graduated from York High School in 1984.

Steve thrived at everything he attempted from becoming a top baseball player in little league to the lead guitar player in his high school band. Steve began working in restaurants in his teenage and college years mastering his craft, and ended up as the chef of the Cape Neddick Lobster Pound in 1995 where he met his future wife Lori Durocher. Steve and Lori quickly connected and formed a bond that could not be broken, and they eventually married in 1999.

His culinary talents quickly became evident, and he quickly became a “chef with true culinary talent and vision that no one could ever teach,” according to fellow chef Charles Caramihalis. Steve continued to perfect his talents as a chef from working in the kitchen to managing restaurants. Steve’s career eventually lead him to settle with his Family in Burlington, Vermont where he and Lori raised their daughter Madison.

Steve had an ability to connect impactfully with anyone he met, and his infectious sense of humor always showed.

Steve is predeceased by his Father, David Edwards McElroy, and mother, Olivia Clarke McElroy both of Cape Neddick, ME. He leaves behind his wife and love of his life, Lori Durocher McElroy, Daughter Madison McElroy, of Mobile, AL, and her partner Autumn Hallock, Older Brother David McElroy of Concord, NH, Younger Brother Marc McElroy of Kittery, ME, Sister-in-Law Ekaterina Burvikova of Kittery, ME, Sister-in-Law Debra Durocher Valdivieso and Brother-in-Law Jorge Valdivieso II of Waukesha, WI, Niece Meagan McElroy of Rochester, NH, Nephews Ryan McElroy of Salem, MA, John McElroy of Kittery, ME, Jorge Valdivieso III of Waukesha, WI and his partner Joseph Abbott, and Braedyn Valdivieso of Waukesha, WI.
