With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Starr Prim, beloved daughter, wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, who left us on December 20, 2024. Born on March 17, 1949, in Burlington, VT to David and Edna (Watson) Walker.
Starr graduated from Pawling High School in New York in 1968, where she developed lifelong friendships and cherished memories. During this time, she loved spending her summers in Grand Isle with her grandmother and great grandmother. Over the years, Starr nurtured her career with roles at Zayre, TJ Cinnamon, Dairy Queen, A&W Restaurant, and most recently as a pharmacy technician for NCS Healthcare, embodying dedication and care in each position she held.
On December 13, 1969, Starr married Irvin “Buddy” Edward Prim at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral in Burlington. In 1976 they bought their home in Milton where together, they created a warm and inviting home, filled with love, and lasting traditions, particularly during the holidays; Thanksgiving held a special place in Starr's heart. They also took many fun and memorable rides together on their Harley Davidson motorcycle. An avid gardener, Starr took pride in her vegetable garden, often canning her harvests to share with family and friends. She found joy in crafting, whether through her exquisite knitting and crocheting—most notably the treasured crocheted Christmas trees gifted to each family member—or in the peaceful moments spent feeding the birds, especially her beloved cardinals or walking through the woods during hunting season with Buddy. Gathering around bonfires and renting summer camps on the lake provided Starr with precious moments of connection with family, where stories and laughter were shared, reinforcing the bonds that defined her life. Her beloved mini dachshunds, Harlie and Buster also gave her great joy.
Starr is survived by her children, Kimberly (Yancy) Martell of South Hero, Jennifer Prim of Richmond, and Autumn Prim of Starksboro. Her sister, Cynthia (Kevin) Cook of Milton. Her grandchildren, Dylan (Cara) Martell, Hannah (Logan) Whitham, Hailey Roberts, Sierra Roberts, and Kahleesi Berby. Her great grandchildren, Harrison Whitham, Lila Martell, Ada Martell and Adeline Whitham. As well as many other family and friends.
She is predeceased by her parents, David and Edna Walker, and her beloved husband, Irvin “Buddy” Prim.
A mass of Christian burial will take place at St. Ann Catholic Church in Milton on December 28th, 2024, beginning at 10:00am. A committal service at St. Ann Cemetery will be announced and held in the spring of 2025.
A special thank you to Dr. Hoffman and the nursing team at Franklin County Rehab for their care and compassion with Starr.
