South Hero, VT -- Shirley Gardner, 90, passed away March 12, 2025, peacefully at home in South Hero. Shirley was born on November 3, 1934, in Isle Lamotte, VT, the daughter of Leon Breault and Myrtle [Ratta].

Shirley enjoyed sewing, fashion and was an avid shopper. Shirley was a South Hero town school board member, a Girl Scout leader, and enjoyed her job as a banker for Vermont Federal Bank until her retirement in 1995 at which time she began wintering in Florida, where she enjoyed the beach and the warm winters. Shirley also loved to travel and made sure to check all of her dream destinations off her bucket list.

She is survived by her daughter's Lynn O'Brien (Michael), Debbie Gardner, Diane Tillson, and her son Howard John Gardner Jr. (Nancy) as well as 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren many friends, nieces, nephews, and cousins As well as the 2nd love of her life Maurice Roussin.

She is predeceased by her late husband Howard Gardner, her parents Leon and Myrtle Breault, and her brothers Leon Jr. and Robert.

A very Special thank you to Ashleigh Tillson who has been instrumental in caring for her grandmother for the last several years and for CarePartners in Saint Albans for making her part of their special family.

Visiting hours will be held at the Minor Funeral and Cremation Center on Wednesday 3/19 from 4:00 to 6:00pm with a funeral service immediately following. A committal service at the South Hero Cemetery will be announced at a later date to take place in the spring of 2025.
