Roger C. Valley, a longtime resident of Milton, Vermont died peacefully at the UVM Medical Center in Burlington on Friday, March 3, 2023 at the age of 78 after a brief illness. Roger was born on August 29, 1944 in Burlington, VT to Ludovic and Alba (Brisson) Valley.
Roger was predeceased by his beloved wife, Janice (Delphia) Valley in 2018. They were married on October 17, 1964 at Christ the King Roman Catholic Church and celebrated 54 years of marriage. He is survived by his daughter Lynne Fremeau and her husband Mark, and their three children Rachel, Seth, and Ryan Fremeau; and his son Mark Valley and his three daughters Ellen Valley, Hannah Valley Miller and her husband Tim, and Grace Valley. He is also survived by his brother David Valley and his wife Marion of Milton, VT; his brother Donald Vallee and his wife Kathy of Tucson, AZ; his brother-in-law John Farr, Jr. of Waterbury; and his sister-in-law Brenda Thibault and her husband David of Venice, FL. He was predeceased by his sister Julie (Vallee) Farr in 1988. He is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Roger was a graduate of Winooski High School, Class of 1962. He was a 30-year employee of IBM in Essex Junction, VT. Roger was proud to be a founding member of the Arrowhead Eagles F.O.E. 4218 established in 1989. He loved the outdoors and became an avid fisherman and hunter from a young age. Roger volunteered his time and talents to many, whether he was coaching his son’s baseball team or cooking for an event at the Eagles Club. He was well known for his tender care of his gardens and would generously share his bounty with friends and neighbors. He enjoyed cooking and baking for his friends and family. For Roger, food was love.
A visitation will be held on Friday, March 17, 2023 from 2 pm to 4 pm with a funeral service immediately following at Minor Funeral and Cremation Center, 237 Route 7 South, Milton, VT.
