Milton, VT--Robert J. Ashton, 82, passed away September 13, 2022 at his residence with his loving family by his side. Robert was born on January 1, 1940 in St. Johnsbury, VT, the son of Merle Ashton and Elma (Armstrong). He married Dolores Tillotson on March 23, 1967 in Huntingon. Bob was a Milton resident for many years and had served on the select board. He was very active in his boys lives. There were many nights of running the Milton Yellow Jacket Booster Club to support the football team. It is thanks to him and his wife's hard work, amongst others hard work as well, the scoreboard and bleachers are here today. Robert was a Technician for IBM for many years, and was an Army Veteran. Bob was a hunter, chasing the ever elusive white tailed deer. In his "retirement" he had worked with Reighthoffer, traveling with the fair. It was with the traveling fair he traveled as far as Florida. He had earned his nick name "Frosty Bob" by running the shaved ice stand. He is survived by: his wife of fifty five years, Dolores Ashton his children, Robert Ashton and his wife Tabitha of Milton, Patrick Ashton and his wife Lynette of Swanton; one grandchild, Caleb ; his siblings Richard Ashton of St Johnsbury, Carol Griffith of Maine and Barbara Lamont of St. Johnsbury . He is predeceased by his father, Merle Ashton; mother, Elma Ashton; brother, Merle Ashton; sister, Patricia Saltmarsh. At the request of the family, a private military service will be held at Milton Village Cemetery.
