Richard Wescott Jr., a beloved father, partner, son, and friend, passed away on December 10, 2024, at the age of 60. Born on April 16, 1964, in Burlington, Vermont, Richard filled the lives of those around him with warmth, laughter, and a passion for life that was evident in everything he did.
Richard leaves behind a loving family that will forever carry his spirit in their hearts. He is survived by his pride and joy daughter, Shelby Wescott, and Donna Jaro with who he shared a beautiful partnership, along with her daughters, Amber and Katelyn Jaro who he thought of as his own as well. Each one of them held a special place in his heart and cherished the moments they spent together. He is also survived by his mother, Shirley Cooke and stepfather, Bill Cooke along with siblings, Kim Wescott and Wayne Wescott as well as many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He is predeceased by his father, Richard Wescott Sr. and his maternal/paternal grandparents.
A man who cherished the great outdoors, Richard found joy in hunting, fishing, and camping where he made the best memories and shared many stories with everyone fortunate enough to be around him. Richard also had an unwavering loyalty to the New York Yankees, proudly supporting the team through thick and thin.
In addition to his family, Richard nurtured strong friendships that enriched his life. He had a special bond with many and will be missed dearly by Ritchie Rogers, Chet Hall, Johnny Millette, Gordie Ritchie, Tommy Mullen whom he shared countless good times and adventures with. In addition to Shane Morgan whom he recently shared a hunting trip of a lifetime together in Ohio.
A visitation in memory of Richard will be held on December 15, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM with funeral services immediately following at 3:00 PM at the Minor Funeral and Cremation Center, located at 237 Route US-7, Milton, VT. A reception will follow at the Eagles Club in Milton. Family and friends are warmly invited to join together to celebrate the life of a man who was genuinely one of a kind.
As we say goodbye to Richard, we remember him not only for his love of the outdoors and sports but also for his tremendous heart, kindness and the laughter he extended to everyone. His spirit will undoubtedly live on in the hearts of his loved ones, an everlasting testament to a life well-lived.
