Richard Lyons

Richard Connell Lyons passed away unexpectedly on September 2, 2023, in Burlington, his place of birth and death. He was born on January 11, 1947.

Mr. Lyons's life was marked by a commitment to serving others. Notably, he bravely served in the Vietnam War as a member of the hospital staff. His selflessness and dedication to providing care for those in need were evident during this challenging period. Richard was a music enthusiast, who enjoyed playing in Chittenden and Franklin County. He loved to play the drums or harmonica, especially to those with a listening ear.  He also enjoyed gardening.

Richard will be dearly missed by his beloved companion, Jeanette Adams. He leaves behind his sons, Steven Lyons and Christopher Lyons, who were the source of immense pride and joy in his life. His siblings, Scott (Cindy) Lyons, Roddy Lyons, Gloria Simpson and her friend Kurt, and Cammie Lyons grieve the loss of their cherished brother, and Lilyjane, Arianna and Elzbeth his grandchildren. He is also survived by his aunts and uncles, Peter (Judy) Pratt, Barbra Pratt and Mary (Alfred) Arel, along with many nieces and nephews. Damion Gilbert also mourns Richard's departure.  He was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Mildred Lyons and his siblings Dale Lyons and Millicent Lyons.

A devoted employee of the intensive care unit and ambulatory services at UVMMC for many years, Richard touched the lives of countless patients and colleagues with his compassionate nature and unwavering commitment to providing exceptional care. His dedication earned him the deep respect of all who had the privilege of working alongside him.

A visitation will be held on September 8th, 2023 from 9:00 am to 10:30 am at the Minor Funeral and Cremation Center located at 237 Route US-7 in Milton, VT . Followed by a Funeral Mass to be held in St Ann Church on Main Street in Milton at 11:00 am. All those who knew Richard are welcome to attend these memorial events to pay their respects and support one another during this difficult time.

The passing of Richard Lyons leaves an irreplaceable void in the lives of those who knew him best. His memory will endure through the touching stories shared by friends and family members who were fortunate enough to have experienced the warmth of his presence. May his soul find eternal peace, and may his loved ones find solace in the enduring legacy of a life well-lived.
