Colchester--Ralph Wescott, 84, passed away Monday, January 17th at the McClure Respite House. Ralph was born on August 25, 1937 in Swanton, Vermont of Leon Wescott Sr., and Rosanna (Hoag) Wescott. His is pre-deceased by his partner in life, Sharon Poland, who is described as the love of his life. Ralph was in the U.S Navy for 20 years and earned the rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class, afterwards working on site construction. He was best known for his fierce independence, endless generosity and his witty, sometimes questionable, sense of humor. Ralph loved fishing, camping, NASCAR, and gardening. He had a green thumb that curated the tastiest cherry tomatoes and produced enough fruits and vegetable to feed the entire town of Essex (which he did!) His favorite thing to do was spend time with his family and friends, chatting about his Navy days with a cold Miller High Life. We will greatly miss your Alameda stories! He is survived by: his daughter Christina, husband Ryan and grandchild Kellan McLaughlin of Colchester; sisters, Mary (Rudy) Lopez of Arizona, Laura (Rodney) Harris of Grand Isle; Virginia (Paul) Vincent of Grand Isle; and brother, Leon (Emily) Westcott Jr., of Colchester. He is predeceased by his parents Rosanna and Leon Wescott Sr., and sister Lilian Tourville. There will be a burial at South Hero Cemetery later this Spring.
