Michelle Lee Roy

Michelle Lee Roy, born August 13, 1968, died peacefully with her family by her side on March 10, 2025.

Michelle was a kind, funny, loving person. At an early age she was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy. She then became one of Jerry’s kids. Michelle also became a MDA poster child and helped raise awareness for MDA. As the poster child, she attended events like skate-athon‘s, dance-athon’s, and even brought attention to MDA by being on the fishing show Rod and Reel. Michelle never let her disease stop her from having fun with her family. Michelle loved playing train with her great nieces and nephews. This is where she and her wheelchair were the engine, and the kids were the caboose sitting on scooters as she motored them around the house. She also loved to go fishing with her father on his boat. Michelle was always up for a great time. 

Michelle graduated Essex high school in 1987. After graduation, Michelle worked for a few years at a federal loan agency. Michelle worked at Cider for a short time, then finished her professional career at the South Hero Town Office helping her mom answer phones. 

Michelle enjoyed good card games such as Cribbage, Go Fish, and Crazy Eights; even if she wasn’t playing, she enjoyed watching. Michelle was an avid TV watcher with her dad. They loved a good Western, along with some reality tv, such as Storage Wars, and Wicked Tuna. 

Michelle leaves behind her father, John, brother, John Henry, sister, Cecile and husband Michael. Two nephews, Johnny and wife Sam, Zachary and partner Dixie. Two great nieces, Aiyana and Makaiya, who stepped up and provided exceptional care to her when needed. And three great nephews Jackson, Alexander and Jayce. Michelle is preceded by her mother Sharon. Michelle touched many people with her smile and her warm heart. Michelle will truly be missed. 

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday March 18,2025 from 5-7PM at the Minor Funeral and Cremation Center 237 Route 7 South Milton, VT 05468. Funeral Mass will take place Thursday March 20, 2025 at 1:00PM at The St. Rose of Lima Parish 501 US-2 South Hero, VT.
