It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michel Fernand Brault, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend on November 4. Born on May 25, 1952, in Burlington, to the late Gerard and Theresa Brault, Michel exemplified a life rooted in humility, intelligence, and unwavering support for his family.
Michel dedicated many years of his life working at Pecor Auto and then IBM, where he eventually retired. He was known for his dedication and hard work. Yet, the true core of his being was his unwavering love for family. Michel was always there, supporting and celebrating the ones he loved with a steadfast presence and an open heart.
Michel found joy in the open road. Whether riding his motorcycle or later in life cruising in his convertible. He enjoyed many long road trips on his motorcycle with his wife Linda and his friends. Michel also enjoyed the precision of target shooting, embracing every moment with a spirit of adventure and passion. After retirement, Michel began to enjoy picking up new and old hobbies and interests such as, camping in West Swanton, going to the shooting range, helping his grandson with his race car, going on cruises and adventures with his sister and brother-in-law, taking road trips in his little convertible with his top down, either just for fun or to go watch one of his grandkids sporting events.
Family was very important to Michel. You could always count on seeing him at every family gathering, bringing a dish to share and having a story to tell; from past memories or new ones. To watch his face light up as he re-told those memories was infectious, you couldn’t help but laugh with him. His stories, his spirit and his love, will be dearly missed.
Michel is reunited in eternal rest with his wife, Linda Brault, his son, Gerry Brault; his sisters, Rita Fontaine, Doris Alberts (and her husband, Charles), Cecile Savage (and her husband, Dick); his brother, Marcel Brault; his best friend, Mike Sweet, and his beloved dog Sadie.
He is survived by his loving children: daughter, Michelle Cramer, and son-in-law, Thomas; daughter, Corrine Rich, and her longtime partner, Andrew Dashno; daughter, Lisa Putnam, and son-in-law, Darcy; and son, Joe St. Amour, and daughter-in-law, Erin. Michel was a cherished grandfather (Pepe) to Gerard, Margaret, Caleb, Mataya, Scarlett, Chandler, Xavier, Isaac, Brittany, Cody, Kyle, Parker, and Haley and a proud great-grandfather to Ezra, Judah, Abigail, Alleah, and Layne. He is also survived by his sister, Rachel O'Brien, and her husband, Kenny, as well as many very special nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Michel’s life will be held on November 23, from 11-3 at the Arrowhead Senior Center, 46 Middle Road in Milton VT. Please come share a meal and a story with our family.
Michel’s legacy of love, loyalty, and countless cherished memories will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Though he may no longer be with us, his spirit remains in every smile, every story, and every heart he touched.
