Michael Lee Gardner, a beloved member of his family and community, was born on December 8, 1959, in Burlington, Vermont, and left this world unexpectedly on September 10, 2024, at his residence. Michael's life was a testament to the joys of family, community, and a strong work ethic.
As a proud member of UA Local 693, Michael built a distinguished career as a pipefitter, known for his dedication and craftsmanship. His commitment extended beyond his profession; he also served his country honorably in the United States Navy aboard the USS Jesse L. Brown, a Knox-class frigate. The lessons of discipline and service he learned during his military career shaped the loving family man he became.
Michael's warmth and passion for life were evident in every family celebration, where he took delight in bringing loved ones together. He cherished his role as a husband and father, and his heart expanded to welcome his granddaughters, Nora Tahair and Addison Quinones. His love for his wife, Barbara, was unwavering, and together they created a nurturing home filled with laughter and love.
An avid outdoorsman, Michael found joy in hunting and fishing, often sharing stories of his adventures with family and friends. His love for gardening was matched only by his culinary skills; he had a particular talent for cooking, and his apple pies were a crowd favorite. Michael's home was always filled with the wonderful aromas of his cooking, reserved not just for special occasions but also for frequent gatherings that highlighted the importance of family.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Barbara, and their two children, Michelle Tahair and her husband Josh, and Katie Gardner and her fiancé Chris Quinones. He also leaves behind his siblings: Linda Smith, Sue Straight, Billy Gardner, David Gardner, and Edward Gardner, who will carry forward his legacy of love and kindness.
Michael's spirit will remain alive in the hearts of all who knew him. His legacy of love, camaraderie, and the joy of family will continue to inspire those left behind. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered as the loving man who cherished every moment spent with his family.
