Lorna Coulter

Lorna Coulter, 84 of Milton, passed away on July 27, 2023, with Family by her side, at the McClure Miller Respite House.

Lorna was born on December 12, 1938, in Burlington, VT, the daughter of Rolland and Roselene [Manor] Quesnel.

Lorna married the love of her life, James Coulter, on August 2^nd, 1958, at Holy Family Church in Essex Junction.   As a wife of a military husband, they moved up and down the east coast sharing their life together raising their 3 children and taking on life’s adventures.

Lorna is survived by her husband of 64 years, James Coulter of Milton, VT.  Her children:  James (Julee) Coulter of FL, Rebecca (Todd) Bushey of Georgia, VT, Cynthia (Jose) Fernandez of FL.  Her brother Gary (Janis) Quesnel of Scotia, NY.  As well as her 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Lorna, graduated from Essex High School with Honors.  She enjoyed Cheerleading, Basketball, Chorus and played the Clarinet as well as the Piano.  She loved to dance and listen to music, every now and then she would sing and had a beautiful soft voice.  Her hobbies were crocheting, knitting, bowling and bingo.  She also had a witty sense of humor, when you least expected it, she’d catch you off guard and made you laugh.  She looked forward to our annual “girls trip” before Christmas with her daughter, Becky, grand-daughter, Cara and great grand-daughter Emma visiting some of Vermont’s unique local shops.  

She was our family soundboard and always the person we went to for advice or even just a hug.  She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

We would like to say “Thank you” to the Hospice Care Team Dr. Long, Sandra, and Julie and the UVMMC Respite House for our Mother’s care during her time of need.  They were a wonderful group of people that were very kind hearted and caring.  They treated her like a member of the family and we will be forever grateful.

A committal service will take place at Resurrection Park Cemetery in South Burlington, VT on August 7, 2023, starting at 1:00PM.
