Larry Chapman

February 1, 1944 — March 7, 2025

Milton

Larry Joseph Chapman, 81, of Milton, Vermont, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on March 7, 2025. He was born in Rutland, VT, in 1944 to Robert and Florence Chapman.

Larry cherished his childhood spent on the family farm, where he developed a deep love for the outdoors. As one of six siblings, he worked alongside his brothers and sisters in the fields, the barn, and with the animals, learning the values of hard work, dedication, and the importance of family.

Larry’s joyful spirit and love for life led him to dance his way into the heart of Daisy Greene Chapman. In 1969, they married, beginning a lifelong partnership filled with love and happiness. Together, they built a beautiful family and created countless lasting memories. Throughout the years, Larry cherished time with his daughter, Kendra (Brian) Gorton of Milton, VT, and his beloved grandchildren, Evan and Sydney. He loved attending educational and sporting events, celebrating holidays, and going on adventures with his family. He was also a devoted companion to his pets, especially his loyal dog, Chika, and his bird, Morocco. With a soft spot for animals, Larry treated each one as a cherished member of his family.

A hardworking and dedicated individual, Larry was passionate about his job as a painter. His meticulous attention to detail and love for his work allowed him to bring light and color into every space he touched. His craftsmanship was a reflection of his commitment to making the world a little bit brighter.

Larry’s legacy goes far beyond his work. He will always be remembered for his kindness, infectious smile, and the way he made everyone feel like a friend. Whether through conversation or offering a helping hand, Larry had a natural gift for connecting with others. His warmth and generosity touched the lives of everyone who knew him. Throughout his life, Larry was dedicated to serving others, contributing countless hours to community service and making a positive impact on those around him. He was always there for those in need, offering support and a listening ear. Larry had many lifelong friends whom he kept in contact with as often as possible, and he especially cherished making memories with his dear friends, Chris and Linda.

He is survived by his sister Nancy (Frank) Morgan, brother Robert (Ruth) Chapman, sister Marilyn Jacobsen, daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren as well as many other loving family members and friends.

Larry was preceded in death by his beloved wife Daisy, his parents Robert and Florence Chapman, his twin brother Gary Chapman, his brother Richard Chapman, his sister-in-law Mary Chapman, his brother-in-law Jake Jacobsen.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses at UVM Medical Center, the McClure Miller Respite House, and Larry’s devoted home health caretakers Mary, Alicia, Louise, and Shirley. Larry was deeply grateful for the amazing care and kindness he received.

Larry’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him. He will be missed every day, but his spirit will forever be a part of those who were fortunate enough to know him. While we grieve his absence, we trust in God’s promises and find hope in the assurance that we will be reunited one day in His glorious kingdom and his soul rests in eternal peace.
