Jessie Cook,a devoted mother, beloved caregiver, and cherished friend, passed away on April 12, 2025, in Fairfax, Vermont, after a brief bout with cancer She passed surrounded by her loving family. Born on May 15, 1931, in Castleton, Vermont, Jessie dedicated her life to the compassionate care of others, providing a loving home for the intellectually disabled and operating a community care home that reflected her unwavering devotion to service.
Throughout her life, Jessie was known for her kindness, love, and outgoing spirit. Her strong personality, coupled with her no-filter approach to life, drew people to her. She carried herself modestly and with class, embodying strength and resilience. Her proudest accomplishments were raising her children and cherishing the moments spent with her grandchildren. These achievements were a testament to her nurturing nature and her commitment to family.
Jessie loved her home, pouring her heart into yard work and taking pride in her surroundings. A true lover of animals, she was the family adopter of many pets. She found joy not only in caring for her beloved animals but also in the simple pleasures of life—savoring dark chocolate and enjoying the excitement of watching "The Price is Right."
She leaves behind a legacy of love and memories cherished by her children: Karl Cook, Kevin Cook and his wife Cindy, and Dale Cook and his wife Pam. Additionally, she will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Ashley, Tiana, Rebecca, Susan, and David, as well as her nine great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy. Jessie also shared a treasured bond with her siblings, June Basso, Florence "Honey" Charron and her husband Phillip, Betty Pudelka and her husband Bob, and Ruth Corey, and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are her parents, Julia and Roy Patenaude, her daughter Sandra Lynn Cook, and siblings Marion Sartwell, Mary Schmidt, Doris Lilly, and Roy Patenaude, all of whom she missed dearly.
A visitation will be held on April 24, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Minor Funeral and Cremation Center in Milton, Vermont. A graveside service will held on April 26, 2025, at Hillside Cemetery in Castleton, Vermont, beginning at 1:00 PM.
Jessie Cook will be missed profoundly, but her warmth and kindness will forever resonate in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
