Together again
Janet A. Hazen, 95, former resident of South Hero and most recently of Mansfield Place in Essex, Vt., went to be with Richard on Monday, November 27, 2023. She was born to Hermon and Anita (Campbell) Atkins on May 8, 1928. Janet was educated in North Hero, BFA St. Albans, and attended UVM. She married Richard W. Hazen on May 3, 1947. They resided in Grand Isle then in South Hero. They were married for 71 years.
Janet was a very talented artist and craftsperson. She made and collected dolls, and was a member of the Green Mountain Doll Club. She taught sewing and arts & crafts in 4-H for over 20 years, passing on her talents to many in South Hero, and was very active in the community. Janet was a member of the Congregational Church in South Hero.
She is survived by her daughters, Rebecca of Westwood, MA, Polly (Harald) of Huntsville, AL, and Laura (Ray) of Milton, VT. Recently she was very fortunate to meet her daughter Donna of Kennett Square, PA. She has 7 grandchildren, Jennifer (Bob), Terry (Mae), Dan (Gina), Samantha (Alex), Eric (Hannah), Alex (Erich), Christopher (Melissa), 6 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Richard W. Hazen, twin daughters Sarah and Susan, her sister Barbara “Bobbie” Rousseau, and son-in-law Gene. Also her dear friends Una Gardner and Valerie Rider.

A memorial service will be held on December 13th, 2023, at the Congregational Church of South Hero at 11:00am. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 in the Church Hall
Burial will be next spring at the convenience of the family.
