James “Jimmy” R. Trombley Sr., from Grand Isle, passed away on February 28th, 2025, at home with his loving wife, Bonnie, by his side following a battle with cancer. Jimmy was born on January 4th, 1952, in Colchester, VT, the son of Joseph and Shirley [Atwood] Trombley.
Jimmy retired from doing equipment maintenance at Burlington Public Works after 33 years. His many passions included gardening, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family.
Jimmy is survived by his wife, Bonnie [Chamberlain] Trombley of 36 years, his step-son Chris Chamberlain, his daughter Robin (Andre) Wing of Milton, his son James Trombley Jr., of Essex Jct, 5 grandchildren, 5 great-granddaughters and 1 great-grandson, his sister Judy Laird of Essex Jct, his brothers John (Debbie) Trombley from Colchester, and Jerry (Annette) Trombley from Virginia, his sisters-in-law, Donna Emery from Colchester, Claire Chamberlain from Colchester, and Marge Trombley from Starksboro, his sister-in-law Tina (Bob) Bartlett of Essex Jct, and his sister-in-law Marlene (Herbert) Chamberlain of Burlington, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Shirley Trombley, his brother Joey Trombley, his sisters, Jane Eldred, Jeannie Trombley, his father-in-law Herbert Chamberlain, his mother-in-law Carolyn Chamberlain, and 3 brothers-in-law: Steve Chamberlain, Henry Emery Jr., and Bert Laird.
The family would like to thank UVM Home Health & Hospice for all they did for Jimmy, as well as a thank you to Sarah and Dr. Clough.
A committal service at Grand Isle Cemetery will be announced at a later date, with a celebration of life to follow.
