Helen M. (Sampson) Butler

August 18, 1936 — February 16, 2025

St. Albans

Helen M. (Sampson) Butler, a beloved matriarch, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 16, 2025, at the Homestead Residence in St. Albans, surrounded by her loving family. Born on August 18, 1936, in Belfast, Maine, Helen dedicated her life to caring for others and nurturing her family and many close friends, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever resonate in their hearts.

A compassionate soul, Helen worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and was a co-owner with her husband, Bill Butler, of B & H Appliances. Her career was a testament to her nurturing spirit, always embracing the role of caregiver. She was known for her friendly and loving demeanor, consistently putting the needs of others before her own. It is this caring nature that solidified her status as the fabric of her family.

The essence of family was woven into every aspect of Helen's life. She delighted in gathering her loved ones by the lake, cooking and preparing meals that fostered connection and comfort. Her joyous spirit shone brightly during family gatherings, where she shared her love through delicious food and laughter. Helen and Bill shared many adventures, traveling across the United States and visiting all 50 states, often choosing the unbeaten paths. They embraced the beauty of exploring together, creating fond memories that each family member will treasure.

Helen was more than just a caregiver; she was a lively presence in any room, enjoying dancing and roller skating with her husband, always eager to create moments filled with joy and love. She was the heart of her family, guiding and supporting them through every season of life.

Helen leaves behind her devoted husband, William Butler, and their children Karen Bushey and her husband Charles, Patricia Roy and her husband David Roy and her son in law Stephen Perra. She is also survived by fifteen grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren, all of whom carry a piece of her caring spirit and vibrant personality.

She is reunited in peace with her late parents, William and Helen Sampson , her daughter Catherine Perra, and her siblings: Robert Sampson, Ralph Boardman, George Boardman, and Betty Boardman.

A funeral service will be held to honor Helen's life on February 22, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the Georgia Plain Baptist Church, located at 1493 Stone Bridge Rd, Georgia, VT.
