Jeffersonville, VT - Eugene "Gene" A. Wells Jr., 50, of Jeffersonville, passed away peacefully at home June 14, 2022 surrounded by the ones he loved the most, after a courageous 18 month battle with cancer. Gene was born on September 17, 1971 in Burlington VT, the son of Eugene A. Wells Sr. and Linda Burton. After his school years, Gene enlisted in the Vermont Army National Guard, where he proudly served his country for 26 years. He was deployed to Iraq in 2003 during the war in Afghanistan. He was wounded in a roadside accident and returned home to heal and serve the rest of his military career on U.S. soil, retiring a Sergeant First Class in 2016. In 1998 Gene met the love of his life at a swimming hole in Jeffersonville, and the rest is history. Gene and Stacy (Jones) were married July 24, 2004. During their 24 year journey, they welcomed three beautiful children, Olivia, Courtney & Mason to fill their hearts and their home. Gene enjoyed fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, and trips to camp and Maine with the family. When stuck inside, it was video games, Fortnite and watching the Yankees play ball. Gene is survived by his wife Stacy, daughter Olivia and her partner Nathaniel Howard, daughter Courtney, son Mason, father Eugene A. Wells Sr., brothers Bradley Wells & Jesse Wells, sister Amy Wells, In-laws Randy & Susan Morrill, Scott (Nichole) Jones, several nieces and nephews, his special cousin Pete Wells, and his buddies Ken Musgrave & Pap. Gene is predeceased by his mother Linda Burton, sister Amber Wells, and his grandmothers Constance Vancor and Harriet Wells. A special thank you to Lamoille Home Health & Hospice for the amazing care and support provided to Gene. To those who enjoyed the outdoors with Gene: May the VAST trails always be groomed, the deer end up in your sights, and the fish fight like hell. Visiting hours will be held Monday June 20, 2022 from 5pm to 7pm at Minor Funeral Home. There will be a family run graveside service on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at the Saint Thomas Cemetery, 9-13 Range Rd, Underhill VT. Immediately following the graveside service there will be a remembrance celebration, the place of which will be announced following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate contributions to cover funeral expenses. Hooah!
