Elton Leon Bora of South Hero, Vermont, born on February 19th, 1944, died peacefully at home on Friday, October 11th, 2024. He is survived by his sisters, Shirley A. Coope of Westerly, Rhode Island and Nancy Bora of Essex Junction, Vermont, along with two nieces, one nephew, five great-nephews, one great-niece and five first cousins. He was pre-deceased by his life partner, Marilyn Chase, and his loving parents, Leon and Charlotte Bora, of South Hero, Vermont.
Elton led a dynamic and varied professional life. He served as a U.S. Marine, worked as a Corrections Officer for the State of Vermont, owned and operated several marinas in Florida and managed multiple properties throughout New York, Vermont and Florida.
An accomplished sailor and boater, Elton spent his life navigating the waterways of Lake Champlain and the Gulf of Mexico, participating in and frequently winning regattas and enjoying time on his beloved sailboat, Charisma, with his many friends and family.
His burial service will be held on October 19th at 3:00 pm at the South Hero Cemetery on South Street, with a reception following at his home on 3 Mott Lane, South Hero, Vermont. Flowers for the graveside service may be arranged through Minor Funeral Home website or donations in Elton's name may be made to The Fraternal Order of Eagles #4218, 42 Centre Drive, Milton, VT.
