Essex-Ellen Goodhue, 84, passed away peacefully March 7, 2023, at McClure Miller Respite house with her loving daughter by her side. Ellen spent her last days surrounded with family and friends.
Ellen was born on May 8, 1938, in Burlington, Vermont, the daughter of Roger and Marjorie (Steadman) Morris. She is predeceased by her husband, Seth Goodhue; her parents; and her sister and brother-in-law Arlene and Bob Lucia.
Ellen’s sister Arlene introduced her to Seth Goodhue. It didn’t take long for Ellen to know that he was the love of her life. On September 10, 1960, Seth and Ellen were married. Their beautiful marriage lasted 59 years until Seth’s passing. At which time Ellen continued to faithfully wear her rings and Seth’s too.
Ellen and her husband Seth enjoyed camping with their family and friends. They were Co-Presidents of the Carriage Travel Club for four years and longtime members. This love of camping brought them all over the United States and Canada. Through camping and life in general, Ellen and Seth created and maintained many lifelong friendships.
Ellen loved to use her artistic abilities. She painted, crocheted, did ceramics, and various other arts and crafts. In the last few years, she enjoyed coloring in adult coloring books and with her artistic abilities she produced the most beautiful pictures.
She is survived by her daughter, Betsy Damron and husband Fred; her grandchildren, Jessica Cormier and Alexis DeCoste; her great-grandchildren, Abby DeCoste and Robert Cormier Jr., nephews, nieces, and cousins.
We, the family, would like to thank the care givers at McClure Miller Respite House for truly caring. You all have very special hearts, and you will always have a place in ours. Also, thank you to all those friends and family that went above and beyond for Ellen.
