David Elliot Butler, born on August 6, 1960, in Berlin, Vermont, passed away on October 28, 2024, in Johnson, Vermont. A dedicated professional and a loving father, David’s life was marked by his commitment to both his career and his family.
David was a proud graduate of the University of Vermont, where he earned a bachelor's degree in forestry. Following his education, he worked in forestry as well as home construction before transitioning into sales, maintenance, and set up for maple sugaring equipment. He served as a mentor for many business startups in the sugaring and forestry community. His work not only reflected his passion for the maple industry but also his connection for the outdoors and with others, making a lasting impact on those he encountered throughout his professional journey.
David had a passion for training and hunting with golden retrievers. He was a certified hunting education instructor and was involved in teaching hunter safety in Vermont. He also was an active member on the community planning board for Johnson and Lamoille County. He was also an avid skier and ski instructor.
Those who knew David often spoke of his warm and fun-loving nature. He was a caring father, and his daughters, Kathryn Butler and Rebecca Butler, were the light of his life. David cherished every moment spent with them, instilling values of hard work and kindness that will carry on through their lives.
David is also survived by his siblings, Bruce Butler, Mary Asper, and Raechel Patch, who will remember him for his vibrant spirit and unwavering support. Although David’s parents, Gordon and Frances Butler, have predeceased him, their legacy continues in the values they instilled in their son and the love he shared with his family.
A funeral service will be held in David’s honor on December 21, 2024, at Lamoille Valley Church of the Nazarene in Johnson, Vermont. The service will begin at 10:00 AM.
David Butler will be remembered not only for his professional accomplishments but also for the profound love he brought into the lives of his family. His spirit will remain alive in the hearts of those he inspired and loved.
