Clara Adele Dacres Beech was born December 7, 1935, to Mancel Edward Dacres and Mary “Mae” (Battles) Dacres. She was delivered in her grandmother’s home in Moretown, Vermont by her grandmother who was a midwife. It was a very cold December, so her grandmother had to wrap Clara in a blanket and put her in the oven to keep her warm.
When Clara was 7 her family moved to Winooski, Vermont. She attended Memorial grade school where she had to share glue with her very messy friend Roger, which she didn’t like because of how messy he was. Her family had heard this story many, many times. She graduated from Winooski High School in 1954. Clara married James Robert “Bob” Beech on August 30,1958. Together the two of them raised three wonderful girls: Cathy, Judy and Mary. The family attended the Winooski United Methodist Church every Sunday for many years.
Along with raising a family, Clara worked at the New England Telephone Company for 30 years. She was a proud member of the Telephone Pioneer Club of America.
