In the early morning hours of May 11, 2024 as the Northern Lights faded toward dawn another of God’s Angels went home.
Carol A. Fowler passed away peacefully at the Manor Nursing Home in Morrisville, VT.
Carol was born in Hardwick, VT on July 30,1937, to Cecil Edward and Evelyn Elizabeth (Smith) Williams. She graduated Pro Merito from Hardwick Academy in 1955 and from Johnson State Teachers College with a B.S. in Elementary Education in 1959. After college she taught at the Colchester Point Elementary School. Carol and Richard H. Fowler of Essex Jct. were married on July 8, 1961 at the Holy Family Church in Essex Jct. Five children were born of this union, Carol always said how grateful she was to be a stay-at-home mom. After all the kids were in school, the family moved from Pleasant Valley Rd., Underhill, VT to Hogback Rd., Cambridge Vt.
During the years of her life living in Cambridge, she ran Countryside Market in Waterville as well as some substitute teaching. Starting in the 1980’s she began to baby sit at home for a friend and continued to baby sit for friends and to care for grandchildren until they were in school fulltime. In addition enjoying to spending time with family and friends Carol was an avid reader with a house full of books, she was a fan of solving a variety of word puzzles, knitting things from baby sweaters to dishcloths, and spending time at the family Camp. Carol enjoyed travelling to visit family and friends taking trips to Florida, Maine, Maryland, South Carolina and Missouri. She was also fortunate to have travelled to Ireland and Gettysburg, VA. She was a Communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Cambridge, a Life member of the VFW post 9653 Auxiliary, Morrisville VT.
Carol is survived by her beloved children and grandchildren Glenn (Marie) their children Sarah-Marie, Cole, EmiLee, Madison, Ross, Anna, and Cady; Glenn’s son’s Ryan and Keith; Craig (Jennifer) their children Eliza and Dustin; Brent (Darcie), their daughter Kayla; Karen (Robert) Wescom, their children Miranda, Cassandra and Andrea. Five Great Grandchildren and one due to arrive this summer and adopted granddaughter Andrea. Carol is also survived by her brother Stanley Williams, sister Linda Davidson. Brothers: Donald (Ethel), Stephen Williams. Sister Vicki Niles. Brothers’ in-law James Fowler and Claude Perry. Many cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephew.
Carol was preceded in death by her son Brian, Husband Richard, Mother Evelyn (Smith/Williams) Cady, Father Cecil Williams, Stepfather Renphew Cady, In-laws Perrin and Marion Fowler. Sister Syliva Thomas and brother in-law Gerald Thomas, Sister Jaqueline Walbridge, Brother’s Kevin Cady, Douglas Williams, Sisters’ in-law Carolyn Perry and Susan Fowler. Niece Lisa Fecteau, Uncle Thomas V. Smith, Aunt Olga (Williams) Hall Lavertu.
The family would like thank the entire staff and friends at the Manor for their care, support and love shown to Carol during her residency.
Calling hours for Carol will be held on June 6, 2024 starting at 9:30am at St. Thomas church in Underhill. Funeral Mass at 11:00am with Graveside procession to follow.
