Stannard- Carmen Margaret Sibley, 98, formerly of Milton, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.
Carmen was born in Winooski, on February 27, 1925, the daughter of Charles and Alice (Gingras) Rochette.
She attended school at the St. Louis Convent in Winooski and Mt. St. Mary's in Burlington. She married Edwin S. Sibley Jr. on June 14, 1947, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Winooski.
Carmen was a bookkeeper for the American Red Cross in Burlington for over 23 years, retiring in 1988.
She is survived by her children Raymond Sibley and his wife Laura of Milton, Robert Sibley and his wife Susan of Stannard, Mark Sibley and his wife Jean of Georgia, and Joan Sibley and partner Mark Moffatt of Colchester; 14 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; by her sisters Yvette Labrie and husband Roger of Essex, Anita Cote of Nebraska, and Dina Remillard and her husband Charles of Swanton; and by her several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Edwin in 1982 and her brothers Arsene and Paul Rochette and her sister Theresa Smith.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, March 16th 3-5pm, at the Minor Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Milton.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, March 18th at 11am at Christ The King- St. Anthony Parish in Burlington. A burial will take place in the spring at St. Ann's Cemetery in Milton.
