Biruta Grunwald

Johnson-Biruta Grunwald, 95, passed away peacefully May 28, 2023, at The Manor with her daughter by her side. 
 Biruta was born on January 7, 1928, in Riga, Latvia the daughter of Alexander and Emma Sneiders.
She married Anthony Grunwald in 1953 in Bayside, Queens, New York and they lovingly remained husband and wife for 46 years, until sadly Anthony passed away in 1999. 
Biruta and Tony made their home in Great Neck, Long Island, New York, when coming to the United States. 
Biruta graduated from the French Lyceum Music School, her passion was singing and classical music. She sang in 12 different languages and spoke 4.  Biruta loved the rebirth of life and the colors of spring.  
 She is survived by, her daughter, Suzanna Grunwald; very special neighbor, Jarrod Irwin and dear friends of many years, Michael Levin and José Blanco. 
She is predeceased by her parents, Alexander, and Emma Sneiders; and her husband Anthony Grunwald.
